Tahu Gimbal

Tahu gimbal is authentically side dish menu from Semarang, Central Java, Indonesia. It is an unique texture dish which consist of tahu (tofu), thin slices of cabbage and gimbal, a kind of shrimp in the fried flour. Last touch is the saute is made from fried ground nut which is smashed and mixed with green cayenne pepper, brown sugar, ketchup and petis (kind of flavour made from shrimp).
So, here i try to share this Semarang authentic side dish recipe:
Ingredients:
White Silken tofu
Cabbage
celery, shrimp snack
Gimbal udang : Shrimp, "bakwan" flour, egg, spring onion, water
Peanut saute : ground nut, green cayenne pepper, "petis", garlic, salt, brown sugar, ketchup, water

Directions:
White silken tofu must be soaked with water and salt. Keep it for 10 minute then fried
Cabbage is sliced thin, add some hot water
To make a gimbal udang, mix the shrimp with bakwan flour, spring onion, water and egg and then mixed them all. Fry in a hot oil.
To make a peanut saute, smashed green cayenne pepper, petis, garlic, brown sugar and salt with fried ground nut. Add some ketchup and water.
Serve the white silken tofu, thin slices of cabbage, gimbal udang. Give the peanut saute in the above. sprinkle with celery and for the last, give the shrimp snack. Yummy!
